Fair Share Fee Begins in 2023

On September 20, 2022 the Board of Directors of the French Creek Council approved the implementation of the Fair Share Fee for all registered youth and adult members, Read the letter from the Council Key 3 explaining the decision to implement an annual council fee.

Starting at re-charter in December 2022, January and February 2023

YOUTH FEES

Total annual 2023 youth fee  due at recharter for youth members in Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing and Sea Scouts - $111.00. Includes $75.00 for the National BSA membership fee and $36.00 for the Fair Share ($30.00) and insurance ($6.00) fee.

Total prorated amount - $9.25 per month effective January 1, 2023.

Total annual 2023 youth fee due at recharter for youth members in Exploring - $60.00. Includes $45.00 for the National BSA membership fee and $15.00 for Fair Share and Insurance fee.

Total Explorer prorated amount - $5.00 per month effective January 1, 2023.

Multi-Scout Family Discount - $20.00 for each additional Scout. For example, a Scout family with three Scouts would pay $111.00 for the first scout and $91.00 for the second Scout and $91.00 for the third Scout. These discounts are recognized only during the recharter period.

Scouts Life Magazine - Additional $15.00 per year. Prorated fee - $1.25 per month.

ADULT FEES

Total annual 2023 adult leader fee due at recharter - $66.00 per adult.

Note: Total adult leader fee includes adults regestered in a unit position, district committee members and commissioners. The total adult leader fee includes $45.00 for the National BSA membership fee and $15.00 for the Fair Share fee and $6.00 for the insurance fee.

No-Fee-Required Registrations – Merit badge counselors, STEM Nova counselors, and religious emblem coordinators are registered adult leader positions that require a completed BSA adult application, Youth Protection training, and a criminal background check, but no registration fee is required unless they choose to pay to receive Scouting magazine.  Executive officer and Lion and Tiger adult partner positions do not require a registration fee because they are not registered adult leader positions. These positions also do not require a completed BSA adult application and are not submitted for a criminal background check. While Youth Protection training is not required for adults holding these positions, it is recommended for all participating adults.

NATIONAL BSA RECHARTER FEE

National BSA annual re-charter fee for units - $100.00

IN-COUNCIL TRANSFER

In-council transfers (Arrow of Light to Scout) have no fee. Transfer can be done online at my.scouting.org or by filling out a BSA Application and submitting it to the council service center.
